How do timers and scoring work in a live quiz?

Timers are optional in live quizzes. You choose how long players have for each question and whether the answer should be revealed automatically when time runs out. Live quizzes use Time Bonus scoring by default, but you can switch to Standard scoring.

In live mode, turn on Use a timer for questions, then set the number of seconds players get for each question. Leave the timer off if you want to control the pace yourself.

Can the answer be revealed when time runs out?

Section titled “Can the answer be revealed when time runs out?”

Yes. In live mode, turn on Auto-reveal answers when timer ends to show the answer or poll result as soon as the countdown finishes. Leave it off if the host should decide when to reveal it.

Time Bonus is the default scoring mode for live quizzes. Players earn points for a correct answer, with a larger bonus when they answer sooner.

In live mode, Standard scoring gives the fixed number of points assigned to the question to every player who answers correctly. Answer speed does not change the score.

Polls do not have a correct answer, so they do not award points in either scoring mode.
